In other news, I have received all entries for the international fanart contest and will soon post the results! I’ve just been so busy, I’ve had trouble just organising everything.

So this is the state of Rise of the Guardians. Our budget to make the film was 145 million. Opening weekend revenue counts the most because it mostly goes back to the studio. We only made 34 million to date.
Sure this sounds like a lot, but in movie terms it’s bare bones. In comparison, Twilight made more than 40 million in one night.
I’m writing about this because people have asked us why we don’t make sequels to movies they like. Megamind, for example, made back its money, but only turned a 10 million dollar profit. 10 million is not enough for a sequel, as you can see it take 145 million to make.Rise of the Guardians was absolutely stunning, but I think we’ll be lucky to even make our budget back, let alone turn a profit. We need to make twice as much as our budget in order to even think about making a sequel to tell the stories of all the other characters.
Also, if anyone is wondering why we have Madagascar movies up to wazoo, the third movie made 200 million in the U.S. alone.
So I guess what I’m saying is, if you like something like a movie or a game, support it, or you’ll probably never hear about it again.WHY IS IT NOT MORE OMG WHAT THIS IS NOT OKAY

^ I agree with you, I think a lot of it is in the timing too ): It had sooo much direct competition and the day before Thanksgiving is a pretty awkward night to open a movie I feel?
Hopefully as the holidays go on more people will see it. Crossing my fingers Christmas spirit will bring in more viewers!
When I went to go see it with my Dad, there were only four people. Granted, it was a matinee. But here was a hiccup in the film that blacked it out for a few minutes, audio still going. The other two people bailed. My Dad fell asleep.
It’s not the most innovative film out there, but it was a beautifully produced one. Just watching the sand animation alone is stunning.
If you’re going to be standing about going oh Kawaii Jack Frost, etc, at least toss some money their way…
